Extra! --- The Return of Ines Sainz (aka "Ms. Understood")

Special Note to Our Readers:

Your Editor-in-Chief is overwhelmed by the good wishes and support that have poured in in the brief few weeks that we have published.  After all, without our readers, we are nothing.   Two themes have been predominant:

(1) "We appreciate the weekly news summary, but can you please bring us
The Global Game's take on the vital news stories of the day as they break
during the week?"

and

(2) "Why are you being so hard on
Ms. Understood (Ines Sainz) --- what did she do to deserve inclusion in
TGG Hall of Shame?"

Ines Sainz (aka "Ms. Understood")

TGG is nothing if not a reader-focused publication.   As you know, we also strive to cover the important societal issues of the day -- such as the role of sports in society, the role of women in journalism, and media fairness.   Indeed, there is no  more solemn duty for a journalistic outlet than to treat all who appear in its pages or on its airwaves fairly.    Even the hint of unfair coverage of Ms. Understood means nothing less than that the very journalistic integrity of TGG is at stake.  When you add in the breaking news element, TGG had no choice but to offer its readers team coverage of the Sainz story.   We interrupt our regular commentary for the very latest...

Dateline --- Cowboys Stadium:

BREAKING NEWS:
TV AZTECA REPORTER INES SAINZ RETURNS
FOR SUPER BOWL MEDIA DAY......

"Is That The Latest Edition of TGG?'

Sainz' star turn at the annual event brought brought back two controversies.

The first was her antics at previous
Super Bowl Media Days.....

"We Studied The Heisenberg Principle
in Journalism School"

Including,  most notoriously, offering to measure backup Cardinal QB Matt Leinart's.....

"I Bet You Tell That To All The Boys"

bicep at last year's Media Day.

The second controversy arose over whether her attire was appropriate when she showed up at the New York Jets' practice facility to interview QB Mark Sanchez:

"What Did I Do?"

Sainz vigorously defended her attire, Tweeting, "jeans and a white shirt is not inappropriate."

"It Looked OK to me."

And, upon further consideration, TGG must agree that Sainz had a point.  Jeans are never inappropriate for a journalist as a sporting event, whether preparing to go on camera.....

"Do These Jeans Make Me Look Phat?"

Providing critical sideline analysis at the Brazil-Portugal game at the 2010 World Cup...

"I Don't Know Why They're All Looking
at Cristiano Ronaldo"

Or Waving to One's Fans in the Rarified Air of Aztec Stadium:

"Hola', Muchachos!"

TGG is not too big to admit when we are wrong.   Maybe we made a mistake.
It is high time TGG made things right with
 Ms. Understood.
Accordingly, from our
Vice President for Editorial Standards,
we issue the following statement for immediate release:

"On behalf of The Global Game and all of its readers, if anybody was offended by our coverage,
we hope we can get their digits so we can apologize."

Stay tuned for this weekend's Volume 1, Issue 2
wrap-up of the week's news.
Breaking news coverage as events warrant.
