Vol. 1, Issue 6 (Special Midnight Train To Georgia Edition)

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT TO OUR READERS

TGG had been suffering through a vague sense of irritation --- a troubling sort of disequilibirum --- all week.

It could have been for any number of reasons, and we were not exactly sure whom (or what) to blame:

(1)   Trying To Decide Which One Of The American Idol Judges Was Most
 Frightening, Fake, or Weird;

Don't Let The Kids Watch Before Bedtime

(2) Wondering If Anybody In America
(Including The Media) Had Learned Anything
From Recent Horrific Events
In The Middle East;

(3) Wondering Why, If The 1988 Democratic Candidates Were Known As
"The Seven Dwarfs"....

He Was The Winning Dwarf

...The 2012 GOP Presidential Candidates Aren't Known As
 "Gladys Knight and The Pips"?

She's Gladys

"And We're....

.....The Pips"

(4) Trying To Process The Fact That The Most Exciting Player In College Basketball and Leading Candidate For
Player of The Year
 Is Named "Jimmer"

The Jimster

Given that the week had put The Global Game so out of sorts, we were in no condition to bring you our usual detailed, nuanced, roundup of all of the week's events.   But then, it hit us --- our mission is to bring you News, Politics, Sports, Culture and not least of all, Hype --- all while serving as a virtual repository of (indeed, a shrine to)
the Best of The Old School
(that's "Old Skool" to our New School readers).  Yes, it hit us, the one single thing that encompassed all of our recent angst, and more than anything else, summarizes one of our recurring themes and most popular topics
(Why Old School Is Better Than New School).

Have you guessed, Dear Reader?

Hint: Think "Oscars"....

OK, Time's Up.   The Decline of America?
  Here You Have It.....

BOXING MOVIE NOMINATED
FOR BEST PICTURE ---
NEW SCHOOL

BOXING MOVIE NOMINATED
FOR BEST PICTURE ---
OLD SCHOOL

Many people make fun of Stallone
(and what's not to make fun of)?
But we suspect he's laughing all the way to the bank, and we admire him if for nothing else, exemplifying one of
The Global Game's (and G$'s)
 fundamental philosophies ---
"Always Try To Be A Little Bit
Smarter Than You Look."

If you were alive during the 1970s and '80s, see if some of the characters from this video montage don't bring a smile to your face (and we don't even have to tell you what this week's TGG Old School Jam of The Week is):

And with that, TGG must get back to our roadwork.
Could somebody please toss us an orange?

Stay tuned next Weekend for Volume 1, Issue 7 of TGG,
and be on the lookout for periodic updates
"as events warrant"
